From Drexel Smart House
March 13,2009 Email update
The Smart Living Conference is less than 3 weeks away, and on that note, it is time to start preparing for it. There's a bunch of things I need to share with you so bear with me:
- There are three documents that each program needs to submit (email to me) by Friday, March 27th:
- Introductory Presentations. Please see the attached Introductory Presentation Guidelines
- Smart Living Conference Program Description. This is a short handout on your program for everyone. Please see the attached Smart Living Conference Program Description document as a filled-in example based on the Duke Smart Home.
- Smart Living Conference Bios: Individual profiles for every participant to facilitate getting to know one another. Please see the attached Smart Living Conference Bios document as a filled-in example based on Mark Gu.
- Please see the updated Smart Living Conference Details v2 and Attendee List to see the updated schedule and a list of attendees
- We are planning on doing 4 workshops that everyone will attend (see below), each lasting 45minutes. I've already asked Drexel and Georgia Tech to lead workshop 1 and 4. Please let me know if you are interested in doing either 3 or 4. Duke can lead them if it's not a good fit for anyone else.
- 1. Obtaining organizational and research resources: Funding and Facilities
- 2. Attracting and empowering the best students: How to run a top-notch student organization
- 3. Engaging the community: Ways to generate meaningful impact on the local, state, and national level
- 4. Smarter Living through Technology: Assisted Living, Automation, and Human Computer Interaction
- We are going to be twittering this conference. You can follow us at www.twitter.com/smarterliving
