Review and Revise Assembly Design Guide (Text and Associated images)
Go over Jared's meeting with Eugenia Ellis and her husband.
Notes, Decisions, Issues
1 ~ Cross-beam update
Z-clips - used to hang wall panels to frame
Is there enough room? Would it make send to have a Z-clip for each cross beam? Otherwise hang the panel on the top-most Cross-beam and have stoppers for the other two so that the wall panel sits correctly.
U-Channel Cross-beam design - houses spring-loaded track mechanism which locks a pin into the columns
U-shape and Z-clip work together
Expanding and contracting of cross beam is possible– could be an 1/8” at most possibly. Just to get the cross beam within 2 columns. Think of toilet paper dispenser
Z-clip is screwed into wall panel (pre-assembled) BUT since it’s screwed in, user has the option to change the location (height wise) of the z-clip. (Future work – is there any reason they would need to change the location of the z-clip? Find this out. Future work because for the purpose of proof of concept, considering a 12’ high 4’ wide wall section. Don't have to worry about that yet)
Possible issue – do we need insulation for base and crown moulding. Possible failiure point for insulation.
Possible Solution – insulation around ceiling locks
Jared – keep in mind why we use plascore and how it ties in to the why we need our design over what’s available. This information will be necessary for a report later on.
2 ~ Design Change idea
Came up with new assembly/design idea 1.5” x 3” column
-can we have a ceiling lock per column? Or have 1 ceiling lock per 2 columns. Leaning towards latter because keeps parts to a minimum. Still leaves the issue of half column on ends to permanent wall. How do you cover that?
Action Items
1a ~ Figure out the optimal dimensions for the Cross-beam design, using impact resistance strength vs. telescoping length. (Future Work)
Find out dimensions of the ceiling lock for modeling purposes. Ask Prash for help. (Jared)
1b ~ Next Steps for Assembly Guide (Adrian)
1. Adrian to Complete the floor to raise method for assembly guide.
2. Jared to associate pictures with steps. While doing this take notes and questions on steps.
3. Meet and revise assembly guide.
